Bitcoin wallet moves 50 BTC after 15 years of dormancy
A Bitcoin wallet containing approximately 50 BTC, which had remained largely inactive since 2011, has recently moved its holdings to a new address. According to research from Galaxy Research, the transaction involved several unused balances (UTXOs) that were first received in July and September of 2011.
The movement of these funds represents a massive increase in value. Based on an estimated acquisition cost of approximately $10 to $14 per BTC, the current value of the 50 BTC is estimated at over $3.2 million. This reflects a realized gain of over 460,000%.
While the specific owner of the funds has not been identified, data from Decrypt suggests the recipient address has historical links to deposit addresses associated with the crypto prime broker FalconX. As of the latest reports, the funds remain at the recipient address and have not been moved to an exchange.
