Bitcoin Whales Accumulate as Retail Activity Falls and Exchange Deposits Jump
Large crypto investors have added more than 270,000 Bitcoin to their wallets at an average price of about $59,000, marking one of the strongest whale accumulation phases on record. At the same time, retail inflows to Binance have dropped to historic lows, with wallets sending less than 1 BTC registering a daily total of only 329 BTC, far below the multi‑thousand‑BTC levels seen in previous bull markets.
Data from CryptoQuant show that Bitcoin deposits to centralized exchanges spiked to nearly 50,000 BTC per day, and the average deposit size doubled from roughly 1 BTC to 2 BTC, indicating that the surge is driven by whales and institutional players rather than retail traders. Historically, such deposit spikes have preceded periods of heightened price volatility. Bitcoin is trading around $60‑$63 k, near a critical support level, and analysts caution that the current inflow pattern could trigger renewed volatility in the crypto market.
