Bitcoin whales move 49,000 BTC to exchanges as stablecoin inflows hit 18‑month low
On June 30, Bitcoin exchange inflows surged to almost 49,000 BTC, the largest daily flow recorded this year. Whale wallets moved more than $100 million worth of Bitcoin to exchange wallets, a pattern historically linked to upcoming price volatility. Bitcoin was trading around $62,500 at the time, up about 1.8 % on the day, but the inflow itself did not immediately depress the price.
At the same time, stablecoin net inflows to exchanges fell to 21,557 USD‑equivalent, the lowest level in 18 months—a 56 % drop from recent weeks. Stablecoin redemptions rose 167 % globally, indicating cash‑out pressure. Despite the liquidity contraction, Ethereum developer activity surged, with new smart‑contract deployments up 303 % versus a 90‑day baseline, driven by cheaper block‑space costs. The contrast between reduced trader inflows and heightened builder activity marks a rare divergence in the crypto market.
