Bite Group to deploy atomic clocks to counter GPS interference

Bite Lietuva has purchased a Swiss-made Oscilloquartz OSA 3350 cesium atomic clock for over 110,000 euros to maintain mobile network synchronization during GPS signal disruptions. The technology provides an independent, highly precise time source, allowing the network to maintain stability even if GPS signals are lost or unreliable.

In the event of a total loss of GPS signal, the atomic clock can maintain time precision within a 100-nanosecond deviation for at least 40 days, and up to 60 days under normal conditions. Following the implementation in Lithuania, Bite Latvija plans to introduce similar technology into its network during the first half of 2027 to strengthen critical communication infrastructure resilience in the Baltic region.
