BITEF 2026: Belgrade International Theatre Festival announces program

The 59th edition of the Belgrade International Theatre Festival (BITEF) is scheduled to take place from September 14 to 20, 2026. Under the theme ‘Dare to Know’, the festival aims to present productions that encourage audiences to re-examine their perspectives.

The program will feature artists and productions from Argentina, Spain, Lebanon, Slovenia, Montenegro, Serbia, Portugal, and Italy. The opening performance of the festival will be ‘Medea’s Object’ by the Montenegrin National Theatre, directed by Diego de Bre.

Since its establishment in 1967, BITEF has served as a platform for contemporary and avant-garde theatre, hosting workshops, discussions, academic gatherings, and exhibitions alongside its main theatrical program.
