Bitfire Games announces DarkSwarm Closed Alpha for Steam

Bitfire Games and Ghost Ship Publishing have announced a Closed Alpha for DarkSwarm, a top-down cooperative tactical shooter. The testing phase is scheduled to begin on November 3, 2026, and will last for two weeks. Interested players can register for the free test via the game’s Steam page.

A central feature of the title is its proprietary swarm technology, which is capable of rendering up to 3,000 enemies on screen simultaneously. According to Bitfire Games CEO Hans Oxmond, this technology is designed to create an overwhelming intensity for players. The enemies utilize adaptive artificial intelligence to interact with the environment and react to player movements, emphasizing team coordination and resource management. The game is slated for an official release in the first quarter of 2027.
