bitFlyer to implement 48-hour crypto transfer restrictions
bitFlyer has announced the introduction of a ‘cool-down’ period starting October 15, 2026, to prevent fraud and unauthorized fund transfers. The policy specifically targets individual users who have completed their Know Your Customer (KYC) verification within the last 90 days.
Under this new measure, when these users deposit Japanese yen, a 48-hour restriction will be applied to the external transfer of crypto assets. The restriction amount is calculated based on the total yen deposited within that 48-hour window, excluding fees. Deposits of 100,000 yen or less are exempt from this restriction. For deposits exceeding 100,000 yen, the amount of crypto assets equivalent to the total deposit minus 100,000 yen will be restricted from being sent to external addresses.
This initiative follows requests from Japan’s Financial Services Agency and National Police Agency for crypto asset exchanges to strengthen measures against fraud, including implementing withdrawal restrictions after deposits. The cool-down period does not affect yen deposits/withdrawals, crypto asset trading, or the holding and receipt of assets.
