Bitget CEO forecasts Bitcoin stability and doubts U.S. strategic purchases
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen anticipates that Bitcoin prices will remain relatively stable through the end of the year, potentially fluctuating within $10,000 to $20,000 of current levels. Chen noted that Bitcoin has become increasingly integrated with traditional finance, making it sensitive to macroeconomic factors such as interest rates.
Regarding the U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve established in March 2025, Chen expressed skepticism that the government will engage in active Bitcoin purchases before the end of President Donald Trump’s term. While the administration has directed officials to explore budget-neutral strategies for acquiring more Bitcoin, Chen suggested that direct purchases would require significant policy debates among lawmakers and political parties.
The current U.S. reserve consists of Bitcoin obtained primarily through law enforcement seizures and civil forfeitures rather than market purchases. Under the existing executive order, the Treasury Department must maintain custodial accounts for forfeited assets, which are prohibited from being sold.
