Bitget restricts transfers to 16 crypto platforms amid sanctions

Bitget is implementing stricter controls on cryptocurrency transactions involving 16 different platforms in response to sanctions imposed by United States and European authorities. The exchange is deploying these restrictions through a three-stage process.

The first stage, which began on August 7, targeted Aban Tether Exchange and Shelbit General Trading. The second stage, starting August 13, included A7 Africa, A7 Nigeria, and PilotFinance. A third and larger group of restrictions is scheduled for August 23, affecting platforms such as HTX, EXMO, Rapira, Aifory Pro, and ABCeX.

The initial rounds of restrictions follow US Treasury sanctions against entities accused of assisting in the evasion of restrictions. The upcoming August 23 measures are connected to the European Union’s recent sanctions package regarding Russia. Bitget has cautioned users that transactions routed indirectly through these affected platforms or via intermediary wallets may be subject to additional scrutiny.
