Bitget Wallet joins Japan's Blockchain Collaborative Consortium

Bitget Wallet has officially joined the Blockchain Collaborative Consortium (BCCC), a major Japanese industry group comprising over 270 companies. This move marks the company's first participation in Japan's domestic policy and regulatory discussions.

The membership comes at a critical time for Japanese digital asset regulation. As the country prepares for new intermediary service regulations in June 2026, policymakers are debating how to distinguish between custodial services, where companies hold user assets, and self-custodial wallets, where users maintain control of their own private keys.

Bitget Wallet intends to contribute its global operational expertise, covering over 130 blockchain networks, to help establish industry standards. Alvin Kan, COO of Bitget Wallet, noted that as self-custody enters formal policy discussions, it is essential to create standards that reflect how these products actually function to ensure user protection.
