Bitlis doctors perform first joint endoscopic eye‑ENT surgery

In Bitlis, Turkey, 44‑year‑old Osman Dayan was treated for a narrowed tear‑duct canal. After evaluation by an ophthalmologist and an ear‑nose‑throat (ENT) specialist, the doctors performed a novel endoscopic operation that placed an artificial tube from the nasal passage into the eye canal.

The procedure was carried out by ENT surgeon Dr. Sinan Kır, who inserted the tube through the nose, and ophthalmologist Dr. Muhammed Ali Tomris, who positioned it inside the eye. The joint approach avoided external incisions, reduced scarring, and was reported as successful, with the patient recovering fully.
