BitMine acquires 111,942 ETH for $237 million, now holds about 4.5% of supply
BitMine Immersion Technologies disclosed that it purchased 111,942 Ether (ETH) for roughly $237 million, bringing its total holdings to about 5.39 million ETH—approximately 4.47% of the cryptocurrency’s circulating supply. The acquisition was made while ETH traded near $2,108, a period of relatively weak price momentum, which analysts interpret as a sign of strong institutional conviction.
The sizable purchase reduces the liquid ETH float and could tighten supply conditions, especially as a large share of the newly acquired tokens may be locked in staking. Market observers note that such accumulation by a public company may influence Ethereum’s liquidity, price sensitivity, and the broader perception of crypto assets as strategic investments.
The transaction has drawn attention for its potential second‑order effects on other crypto markets, including Bitcoin and altcoins, by reinforcing confidence in institutional participation during market downturns.
