Bitmine Immersion Technologies expands Ethereum holdings amid AI verification pitch

Tom Lee, chairman of Bitmine Immersion Technologies and co-founder of Fundstrat, is positioning Ethereum as a critical verification layer for the advancing artificial intelligence and robotics sectors. Lee argues that as AI capabilities develop along a steep S-curve, blockchains and smart contracts will be essential for human oversight and coordination of autonomous systems.

This strategic outlook coincides with Bitmine’s aggressive accumulation of the cryptocurrency. The company recently purchased approximately $19 million worth of Ethereum, bringing its total holdings to 5.82 million ETH. This position represents nearly 5% of the total Ethereum supply.

Bitmine’s treasury strategy treats Ethereum as a core reserve asset, with roughly 87% of its holdings currently staked to generate yield. The company reported total crypto and cash holdings of approximately $11.5 billion. While Lee’s connection between AI and Ethereum goes beyond the scope of a recent BlackRock report on Bitcoin, he maintains that Ethereum serves as a vital foundational network for downstream AI applications.
