BitMine Immersion Technologies expands Ethereum treasury and staking amid institutional buying

Weiss Asset Management and several other institutional investors increased their stakes in BitMine Immersion Technologies during the first quarter, making the firm one of the largest positions in their portfolios. Weiss now holds about 4.33 million shares, representing roughly 0.76% of the company’s equity.

At the same time, BitMine is pivoting from traditional mining to a crypto‑focused model. Treasury data shows the company owns roughly 5.7 million ether, valued at about $10 billion, and has already staked around 4.9 million ether. The staking effort is being organized under the MAVAN (Made‑in‑America Validator Network) initiative, which aims to control up to 5% of the Ethereum network. BitMine’s shares traded near $15.80, down roughly 4–5% on the day.

The combined institutional buying and the shift to a large‑scale Ethereum staking strategy signal a strategic move to generate yield from crypto assets rather than rely solely on traditional mining operations.
