Bitmine Immersion Technologies nears 5% Ethereum supply target
Bitmine Immersion Technologies is nearing its target of owning 5% of the total Ethereum supply. After acquiring 9,926 ETH in the week ending August 16, the company’s total holdings reached approximately 5.82 million ETH, valued at roughly $11 billion. This position represents about 4.8% of the circulating supply.
To generate revenue, Bitmine has staked approximately 87% of its holdings through its MAVAN validator network. The company projects annualized staking rewards of approximately $250 million to $287 million. Despite these yields, the firm faces significant challenges, including an estimated $8.4 billion in unrealized losses due to previous high-priced acquisitions and market volatility.
In a separate strategic move, MicroStrategy (MSTR) raised $334 million by selling 3.46 million shares. Unlike its typical strategy of acquiring Bitcoin, the company allocated these funds toward strengthening its dollar reserves, repurchasing STRC preferred stock, and funding dividend obligations. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor noted that share repurchases are not currently a priority unless the stock trades at a deep discount to its net asset value.
