Bizkaia announces 26th European Heritage Days program

The Bizkaia Provincial Council has announced the programming for the 26th edition of the European Heritage Days. The event, titled ‘Gure eskuetan’ (In our hands), will feature over 270 free cultural proposals across 77 municipalities in Bizkaia throughout October.

Aligned with the European Council’s vision for the 2026 Heritage Days, this year’s theme emphasizes the risks and threats to cultural heritage and the necessity of collective action to protect it. The initiative aims to foster reflection on social responsibility and the ability to preserve heritage for future generations.

The program involves 172 organizing entities, including museums, local municipalities, and cultural associations, making it one of the largest annual cultural commitments in the region.
