BJD protests against MLA Prakash Sethi over Ravenshaw University remarks

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) staged protests in Cuttack against Cuttack Sadar MLA Prakash Sethi following remarks regarding Ravenshaw University and its faculty members. BJD leaders and youth wings held demonstrations at Nuapada Chhak, demanding an apology from Sethi and calling on Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to take disciplinary action.

BJD representatives accused Sethi of irresponsible conduct that brought disrepute to the region. They specifically contested Sethi's claim of being a member of the Ravenshaw University Senate, noting that faculty members have stated no such committee has been formed. Bhabani Shankar Dash, Vice President of Biju Yuva Janata Dal, stated that Sethi failed to clarify if students had invited him to the university during the incident, responding only with his purported Senate status.

In response to the escalating tension, Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab urged all parties to exercise restraint and avoid prolonging the dispute. Mahtab noted that while mistakes may have been made by both sides, regular classes are continuing at the university. He indicated that the Vice-Chancellor is expected to resolve issues concerning hostel wardens who recently stepped down from their responsibilities.
