Bjelovar secures 4 million euros to transform Kuća Bakić into a museum

The City of Bjelovar has been granted nearly 4 million euros in non-refundable funds for the renovation of Kuća Bakić, a historic building located in the city center. The project, titled ‘Kuća Bakić: novi život kulturne baštine kroz muzejsku interpretaciju’, is being funded through the ITU mechanism of the Integrated Territorial Program 2021–2027, in partnership with the Bjelovar City Museum.

Built in 1894, the 130-year-old protected historical structure will undergo a complete reconstruction. The renovation will include the facade, woodwork, roofing, and installations, as well as the installation of an elevator to ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities.

Following the renovation, the building is intended to serve as a modern museum space dedicated to the life and work of Vojin Bakić, a renowned Croatian modernist sculptor of international repute. The facility will also provide space for temporary exhibitions, workshops, conferences, and other cultural activities.
