BJP accuses Punjab government of protecting drug mafia after activist murder
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Punjab government of protecting the drug mafia following the fatal shooting of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa. Jhota was reportedly shot dead by a medical store owner on Tuesday.
BJP MP Tarun Chugh alleged that whistleblowers in Punjab face retaliation from both the mafia and the police. Chugh stated that the state government is acting at the behest of the mafia rather than against drug sellers. Additionally, Jhota’s father has alleged that the murder was carried out at the behest of an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA.
Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa further accused the Punjab administration, including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Arvind Kejriwal, and Manish Sisodia, of being under the influence of the drug mafia. Sirsa also claimed that Jhota had previously been detained and tortured by the Punjab Police for his anti-drug activism.
