BJP announces new state in-charges with increased female representation

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a major organizational reshuffle, appointing new state in-charges and co-in-charges for various states and Union Territories across India. A notable feature of this new team is the increased representation of women, with 21 female leaders assigned responsibilities, accounting for approximately 33 percent of the new leadership roles.

Key appointments include former Union Minister Smriti Irani, who has been tasked with overseeing both Chhattisgarh and Haryana. Other significant assignments include Tarun Chugh for Gujarat, Satish Poonia for Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, and Sunil Bansal for Telangana and West Bengal. In Himachal Pradesh, Shrikant Sharma retains his position as in-charge, while Darshana Singh joins as co-in-charge.

National President Nitin Nabin stated that these appointments aim to strengthen the organization and support the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. The new roles are designed to enhance political outreach, coordinate with state units, and strengthen the party's network from the booth level up to the state leadership.
