BJP claims West Bengal leader Madan Mitra staged attack on his own car

On 7 June, a vehicle belonging to Trinamool Congress leader Madan Mitra was reportedly attacked with eggs and vandalism in the North 24 Parganas constituency of Kamrahat, West Bengal. Mitra was not in the car at the time and later left the area.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asserted that the incident was not carried out by opposition supporters but was orchestrated by Mitra’s own aides to obtain additional security. BJP spokespersons cited statements from state minister Arjun Singh, who said, “Mitra had his people stage the attack to get extra security.” BJP MLA Pawan Singh warned against violent protest and urged those aggrieved to use police channels. CPI(M) leader Hanan Molla condemned any attacks on political figures and linked the episode to broader grievances over alleged violence and corruption during the TMC’s fifteen‑year rule.
