Rahul Gandhi event sparks controversy over PM Modi mimicry

A political controversy has erupted following the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ youth outreach event in Indore, attended by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. During the program, stand-up comedian Pulkit Mani performed a mimicry of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The performance, which included jokes about the Prime Minister's interactions with foreign leaders, has drawn sharp criticism from BJP leaders.

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant accused the performance of being an insult to Indian culture and personal attacks on the Prime Minister's late mother. In response, the Congress party has defended the act as satire and mimicry. Other BJP leaders, including Devendra Fadnavis, have mocked the situation, suggesting Gandhi should pursue a career in comedy.

Following the backlash, comedian Pulkit Mani announced the cancellation of several scheduled shows in Noida, Lucknow, and Kanpur, citing threats from activists. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi used the platform to criticize the government on issues such as the education system and the lack of safe hostel facilities for female students.
