BJP condemns Saifuddin Soz's call to restore Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) labelled senior Congress leader Saifuddin Soz’s remarks on restoring Article 370 and granting internal autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir as “anti‑national”. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi asked the Congress to clarify whether Soz’s view reflects the party’s official line and urged action against him. He also linked the statement to the recent return of Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi from abroad, suggesting a pattern of anti‑India rhetoric.

Soz, a former Union minister, argued that the real issue for J&K is internal autonomy and that the state should fight for the reinstatement of special status under Article 370. He said, “Our young generation should remember that a Muslim‑majority state chose to accede to India on its own terms.” BJP officials accused the Congress of echoing Pakistan’s narrative and demanded a categorical response from party leaders.
