BJP criticizes Congress over historical legacy and Kashmir stance

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a series of political attacks against the Congress party, targeting both its historical leadership and current political positions.

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi accused the Nehru-Gandhi family of building their power on the foundation of national ruin. He specifically cited Jawaharlal Nehru’s role during the partition of India and Indira Gandhi’s decision to split the party during the presidential election involving Neelam Sanjiva Reddy. Trivedi further criticized the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, alleging the party is struggling to regain power.

Separately, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad demanded that Congress clarify its stance regarding slogans found at Jamia Millia Islamia university. Prasad questioned whether the party supports demands for Kashmir's independence or the release of Sharjeel Imam, an accused in the 2020 Delhi riots. These questions follow Congress MP Imran Masood’s visit to the university to support students protesting for the restoration of the student union.
