BJP issues show-cause notice to Barnali Goswami over Dharmanagar incidents

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a seven-day show-cause notice to Barnali Goswami, the former Chairperson of the Tripura State Commission for Women, regarding her alleged involvement in recent incidents in Dharmanagar, North Tripura.

Goswami, who is the wife of sitting Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborti, must provide a written explanation within the week to prevent potential disciplinary action. The party's Disciplinary Committee stated that the recent developments in the Dharmanagar Mandal area have caused adverse reactions both within the organization and among the public.

The notice follows tensions involving members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), who reportedly protested against Goswami at Dharmanagar Government Degree College on September 22, using ‘Go Back’ slogans during her visit.
