BJP leader BL Santhosh rejects calls to register the RSS

BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh has rejected calls to register the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), stating that the organization’s existence is based on the trust of millions rather than formal registration. Speaking at an ‘Akhand Bharat Sankalp Day’ event in Bengaluru, Santhosh was responding to demands from Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge.

Santhosh defended the RSS by highlighting its historical role, claiming the organization protected Hindus during the Partition and fought against the Razakars when other institutions failed to intervene. He asserted that the RSS was not registered during those periods and does not intend to seek registration now, stating, “The world does not run on your registrations.”

Additionally, Santhosh addressed demographic concerns and political representation, alleging that a decline in Hindu populations can weaken a sense of national belonging. He specifically pointed to Bengaluru’s Shivajinagar and Chamarajapet constituencies, noting that no Hindu candidate has been elected there for approximately two decades.
