BJP leader Chandan Bhalla shot dead in West Bengal's Bolpur

Chandan Bhalla, a 47-year-old BJP Mandal President, was shot dead on Sunday night in the Trishulapatti area of Bolpur, located in the Birbhum district of West Bengal. According to reports, Bhalla was shot at close range while on his motorcycle. Two assailants on a bike fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Bhalla’s family has raised suspicions regarding the motive. His brother, Goura Chandra Bhalla, suggested that the incident might involve intra-party rivalry, noting that individuals from the Nanoor area had visited their home earlier that morning. His wife, Shyamoli Bhalla, stated that he had left the house to show a piece of land to a client when the shooting occurred.

Local police have deployed a large force to the area and are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. While Bolpur BJP leader Sumit Mandal has called for a thorough investigation by the police administration, official statements from police officers regarding the specific circumstances of the murder have not yet been released.
