BJP leaders commemorate Operation Polo Day in Hyderabad

BJP leaders and ex-servicemen gathered at Tank Bund in Hyderabad to commemorate Operation Polo Day, marking the anniversary of the 1948 military campaign that integrated the princely state of Hyderabad into the Indian Union.

During the event, BJP Rajya Sabha MP K. Lakshman honored the veterans of the five-day operation led by Major General J. N. Chaudhuri. Lakshman described the intervention as a decisive action following a strategic blueprint by then-Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to prevent the state from becoming a separate entity under the Nizam and his private army, the Razakars.

Leaders used the commemoration to criticize previous political administrations for allegedly neglecting the sacrifices of the military heroes involved in the liberation. They also called for greater recognition of the event, including its inclusion in school curricula.
