BJP leaders criticize Rahul Gandhi over constitutional and emergency claims
Political tensions in India have escalated following recent protests and statements from opposition leaders. BJP leaders G. Kishan Reddy and Sudhanshu Trivedi have launched sharp criticisms against Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. Reddy dismissed allegations of an emergency state, characterizing government actions as precautionary measures against internal and external threats, while urging Gandhi to study the history of the 1975 Emergency.
Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi accused the opposition of dragging constitutional institutions, specifically the President, into political disputes for partisan gain. He further questioned the Congress party's consistency regarding electoral integrity, noting contradictions between their previous claims about EVMs and current concerns over voter lists.
Meanwhile, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) commented on recent protests, stating that while peaceful protest is a constitutional right, causing chaos and disruption through hunger strikes is detrimental to democracy. Local traders in Delhi reported significant financial losses during recent demonstrations in Sadar Bazar, which led to the closure of 57 metro stations and the cancellation of several trains.
