BJP leaders detained in Hyderabad after rally ban

Hyderabad police prevented a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally scheduled to proceed from Balapur to the Bhagyalakshmi Temple at Charminar, leading to the detention of several party leaders. Among those detained was Andela Sriramulu Yadav, the BJP in-charge for the Maheshwaram constituency.

The BJP has condemned the decision by the Congress-led state government, accusing it of suppressing democratic expression and patriotism. Telangana BJP President N. Ramchandra Rao criticized the administration, alleging that the denial of permission for the ‘Vimochan Jaithra Yatra’ reflects a policy of appeasement and an attempt to stifle celebrations related to Telangana Mukti Divas.

Telangana Mukti Divas commemorates the 1948 merger of the former Hyderabad State into the Indian Union. While the BJP prepares for celebrations on September 17, the central government is also scheduled to hold official ceremonies at the Secunderabad Parade Ground, with Vice President CP Radhakrishnan expected to attend as the chief guest.
