Imran Khan ordered to leave India by October 28

Mumbai Police have issued a notice to Bollywood actor Imran Khan, directing him to leave India by October 28. The action follows his participation in a protest at August Kranti Maidan on October 10, where demonstrators demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral roll irregularities.

Khan, who is an American citizen and holds an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, was detained during the demonstration. Authorities have initiated proceedings under Sections 7 and 29 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, alleging that he participated in political activities despite not being an Indian citizen.

The move follows complaints from political figures, including BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, who urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to issue a Look Out Circular (LOC) to prevent Khan from leaving the country until investigations are complete. Khan has maintained that he attended the protest as a resident of Mumbai to observe freedom of movement and was not representing any specific political organization.
