BJP leaders warn against extortion in West Bengal housing schemes

BJP leaders in West Bengal have issued strong warnings against extortion and illegal commissions related to government projects. Ammulyo Maiti, Vice President of the Ghatal Organizational District BJP, addressed a gathering in Sabang Block following reports that individuals claiming to be BJP members were demanding between 5,000 and 10,000 rupees from beneficiaries of the Awas Yojana housing scheme.

Maiti advised citizens not to pay any money for government schemes. He suggested that if anyone attempts to extort money using the party's name, people should restrain them and then report the matter to the police or the Block Development Officer (BDO). He noted that local organizations, including Hindu Jagaran Manch and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, are monitoring these activities.

In a similar stance, Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul urged the public to report any attempts at bribery or extortion involving the names of ministers or Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Paul stated that such activities will not be tolerated and encouraged citizens to contact the administration or her directly if they face such demands.
