BJP MP Janardhan Mishra sparks controversy over ethanol petrol remarks
BJP Member of Parliament Janardhan Mishra has sparked controversy following remarks made during an inauguration ceremony for new flight services at Rewa Airport in Madhya Pradesh. While defending the government's policy of blending 20% ethanol into petrol, Mishra directed a provocative question toward those demanding pure petrol, asking, "Will pure petrol come from your father's house?"
Mishra argued that India must move toward ethanol blending to reduce dependence on imported oil, noting that the country currently imports 80% of its crude oil. He cited Brazil as an example of a nation successfully using high levels of ethanol and stated that automobile experts confirm ethanol does not damage engines. He further praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for fostering self-reliance and economic progress.
The remarks have drawn sharp criticism from the opposition. Congress प्रदेश अध्यक्ष Jitu Patwari described the statement as an expression of arrogance and a sign of contempt toward citizens struggling with fuel issues.
