BJP MPs demand CBI probe into Jharkhand recruitment exam irregularities

On July 29, a group of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members of Parliament staged a protest in front of the Makara Dwar entrance of India's Parliament building. The MPs called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into alleged paper leaks and systemic irregularities in Jharkhand’s recruitment examinations over the past six years, including the Jharkhand Public Service Commission, Jharkhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission and the CGL exams.

The protest featured senior BJP leaders such as Jharkhand state party president Aditya Sahu, MPs Nishikant Dubey, B.D. Ram, Vidyut Varan Mahato, Dr. Pradeep Verma, Kalicharan Singh, Dhullu Mahato and Manish Jaiswal. They accused the Jharkhand coalition government of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha‑Congress‑JD(U) alliance of suppressing the issues, demanded a one‑crore‑rupee compensation for the families of 19 candidates who died in a “product soldier” recruitment test, and urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to resign. The MPs also urged Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to visit Jharkhand and address youth concerns.
