BJP probes cross‑voting in Karnataka Legislative Council elections

The ruling Congress won five of the seven Karnataka Legislative Council seats contested on June 19, while the BJP secured two. Election results revealed cross‑voting by legislators from the BJP and JD(S), with sources indicating three BJP and eight JD(S) members voted for Congress candidates, and one BJP ballot was declared invalid.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin summoned Karnataka chief ministerial adviser Vijayendra Yediyurappa and other leaders to discuss the breach. State president B. Y. Vijayendra formed a three‑member fact‑finding committee—MLC C.T. Ravi, state vice‑president N. Mahesh, and MLA Mahesh Tenginkai—to investigate and submit a report by June 25. The party has warned that those identified, referred to as “Mir Sadiqs,” will face disciplinary action. Senior leader R. Ashoka also said betrayals would be identified and dealt with.
