BJP West Bengal announces major organizational reshuffle

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) West Bengal unit has announced a major organizational reshuffle, restructuring its media, IT, social media, and spokesperson teams. The new appointments, announced by State President Samik Bhattacharya and issued by State General Secretary Shashi Agnihotri, are effective immediately.

In the media department, Anupam Ghosh has been appointed as convener, supported by co-conveners Partha Sarathi Chaudhary and Chandrashekhar Basutia. The IT department will be led by Joy Mallick as convener, alongside four co-conveners: Ratnesh Singh, Ramyajyoti Sarkar, Shubhojit Karmakar, and Sabyasachi Roy. Upamanyu Bhattacharya will head the social media department as convener, with Pritam Bhattacharjee and Kameliya Sanyal serving as co-conveners.

The spokesperson panel has seen the most significant expansion, with Advocate Debjit Sarkar named as the chief spokesperson. He will lead a team of 13 other spokespersons. Party sources indicate these appointments are strategic moves to strengthen the organization ahead of the 2026 municipal elections and the 2027 panchayat elections, blending experienced members with younger faces.
