BJP Wins 102 Seats in Assam Assembly, Citing NDA Government Achievements

In the Assam legislative assembly election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coalition secured 102 seats. Newly elected MLA Rameshwar Teli told IANS that the coalition’s work over the past decade, especially for Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Scheduled Caste (SC) communities, helped deliver the landslide. He said the NDA legislators met with Governor and presented a support letter for Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was unanimously chosen as the party leader.

Teli noted that the party did not lose any SC‑ST seat and praised central figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will attend a grand swearing‑in ceremony on May 12, as well as senior ministers JP Nadda and Sarbanand Sonomal. He claimed the government’s “remarkable work” over the last ten years earned voters’ confidence and that further development will be aided by the central government.
