BJP wins Deputy Mayor posts in Rajasthan's Bikaner and Ajmer

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured several Deputy Mayor positions in Rajasthan's municipal elections, notably in Bikaner and Ajmer, despite strong competition from the Indian National Congress.

In Bikaner, BJP candidate Pankaj Gehlot won the Deputy Mayor post with 40 votes, defeating Congress candidate Naseem Bano, who received 38 votes. This result occurred despite the Congress holding a majority of 42 councillors and having previously secured the Mayor's post through Anil Kalla. The BJP victory in Bikaner was attributed to strategic mobilization of councillors.

In Ajmer, the election for Deputy Mayor resulted in a 40-40 tie between BJP's Hemant Sankhla and Congress's Naurat Gurjar. The winner was determined via a lottery, which declared Sankhla the victor. The BJP has also secured Deputy Mayor posts in other corporations, including Alwar and Udaipur, while the Congress failed to win any of these specific positions.
