Björk to release live album ‘Orkestral with the Hamrahlíð Choir’

Icelandic artist Björk will release the live album ‘Björk Orkestral with the Hamrahlíð Choir’ on November 27. The release, available in digital, LP, CD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats via One Little Independent Records, documents a special concert held at the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik on October 24, 2021.

The project features a monumental reinterpretation of Björk’s repertoire, blending choral arrangements, vocal experimentation, electronics, and symphonic elements. The performance includes the Hamrahlíð Choir, directed by Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir, and involved over one hundred Icelandic musicians.

The Orkestral series was designed to focus on the musical architecture of the songs through orchestral arrangements rather than large-scale visual displays. The recording captures a period when live music was gradually returning following pandemic-related restrictions. Proceeds from the original concert series were donated to Kvennaathvarfið, a women's shelter in Reykjavik.
