BJ’s Wholesale Club reports strong Q2 2026 earnings and expansion

BJ’s Wholesale Club Holdings reported strong second-quarter 2026 results, beating Wall Street expectations with revenue of approximately $6.1 billion to $6.2 billion. Adjusted earnings per share rose 19.3% year-over-year to $1.36. The company’s membership base reached a record 8.5 million, contributing to a 9.9% increase in membership fee income.

Growth was supported by an 11.9% increase in total comparable club sales, though merchandise-only comparable sales grew by 3.1% when excluding gasoline. The retailer has reported 18 consecutive quarters of traffic growth. Following these results, the company raised its full-year adjusted earnings-per-share outlook to a range of $4.60 to $4.80.

As part of an accelerated growth strategy to open 25 to 30 new clubs every two years, BJ’s is expanding its footprint in Texas, with a new 106,000-square-foot location planned for Tyler. Other upcoming expansions include locations in Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, and Florida.

In institutional activity, X Square Capital LLC acquired a new stake of 19,492 shares in the second quarter, valued at approximately $1.7 million. Institutional investors currently own 98.6% of the company’s stock.
