Békéscsaba hosts 24‑nation youth fencing camp with 230 athletes

From July 20 to 27, the city of Békéscsaba in Hungary welcomed a prestigious international fencing training camp. The second edition brought together 230 young fencers aged 10 to 24 from 24 countries, mixing able‑bodied and para‑athletes in a joint preparation program.

Organised by coach Gábor Fekete, the camp featured two daily training sessions, technical and tactical drills, and extensive individual coaching. Over 90% of the coaching staff are long‑time members, with new foreign coaches joining each year to promote skill exchange. The inclusive format highlighted two wheelchair‑fencing athletes competing alongside their standing peers.

Beyond sport, the organizers arranged cultural activities, including a traditional Hungarian outdoor cooking event that introduced the visiting delegations to local cuisine despite rainy weather.
