BKSDA Bali surveys Tokek Rumah populations in Klungkung and Karangasem
The Bali Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA Bali) has conducted a population survey of the Tokek Rumah (Gekko gecko) in the Klungkung and Karangasem regencies. The four-day field study, conducted between September 15 and 18, 2026, recorded 41 individuals in Tihingan Village, Klungkung, and 36 individuals in Yeh Malet Village, Karangasem.
The data collected through direct observation is intended to serve as a scientific basis for determining sustainable harvest quotas from the wild. This process follows the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 18 of 2024, which governs the breeding, trade, and management of the species.
BKSDA Bali Head Ratna Hendratmoko stated that the survey is a vital step to ensure that the utilization of the species is managed responsibly, maintaining population sustainability and habitat health while still providing benefits to the local community.
