BL Agro to invest ₹7,000 crore in Tanzania

Indian FMCG and food manufacturing company BL Agro has announced a strategic investment of ₹7,000 crore in Tanzania. The investment is planned to be rolled out in phases over the next 10 years.

The expansion will focus on several sectors, including edible oils, dairy, animal husbandry, agriculture, research, and manufacturing. Edible oils will serve as the primary focus, with the company intending to establish production and processing facilities to leverage Tanzania’s significant sunflower and oilseed potential.

This initiative aims to create an integrated ecosystem by combining Tanzanian agricultural resources with Indian technology and processing expertise. The company views Tanzania as a potential gateway to the broader East African market. The announcement follows a visit to Tanzania by a BL Agro delegation and coincides with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s visit to India to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation.
