Blace faces rapid depopulation and youth migration
The municipality of Blace is experiencing rapid demographic aging and a significant decline in its youth population. According to data from the Republic Statistical Office, the average age of residents rose from 45.3 in 2011 to 48.2 in 2022. Between these two censuses, the number of citizens aged 15 to 29 decreased by two percent.
Local residents cite a lack of industrial employment and unstable agricultural markets as primary drivers for migration. While the region is agricultural, issues such as low plum prices and insufficient purchasing volumes make farming an unreliable livelihood. Additionally, a lack of social infrastructure, including nightlife and diverse sports clubs, contributes to young people moving to larger cities like Belgrade, Prokuplje, or Kruševac.
