Black Asteroids represent Ghana at FIFAe Africa Championship

Ghana’s national esports team, the Black Asteroids, is competing in the FIFAe Continental Championship Africa held in Casablanca, Morocco. The tournament, which runs from August 27 to 29, 2026, features the eFootball Console category.

The squad is led by coach Emmanuel Lawson and features two primary players: captain Frank Adotey Kpakpo, known as ‘Wondhakid’, and Abubakar Abdulganew, known as ‘Medicinemustshine’. Kpakpo brings over 14 years of esports experience and a fluid style of play to the 2v2 format, while Abdulganew is recognized as one of West Africa’s top 1v1 players with an aggressive approach.

The team competes in official yellow national team Puma kits, establishing a visual connection to Ghana’s senior men’s football team, the Black Stars. The Ghana Football Association described the tournament as a historic event for the continent.
