Black Bear acquires comedy script from Alla and Masino

Black Bear has acquired the rights to an untitled comedy spec script written by Cassidy Alla and Read Masino. The film follows a mother and daughter who unintentionally begin dating the same man, forcing the family to navigate the chaotic aftermath of the unexpected love triangle.

Alla and Masino met while working as assistants at Apatow Productions. Masino has previously served as a writers’ assistant on projects such as Amazon’s ‘Spider-Noir’ and Apple’s ‘Brothers,’ while Alla worked under Justin Noble, the co-creator of ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls.’ The duo also has a separate project in development at Netflix.

Michael Heimler, Partner and President of Production & Operations at Black Bear, described the script as one of the funniest and most poignant works regarding romance and family dysfunction seen in recent years.
