Black Bear appoints Dan Cohen head of television distribution
Independent studio Black Bear has appointed industry veteran Dan Cohen as its head of television distribution. Cohen, who previously held leadership roles at Paramount and Disney/ABC, will manage the studio’s post-theatrical licensing infrastructure.
In conjunction with this appointment, the studio is launching Black Bear Digital Networks. This new vertical is designed to help independent content owners monetize assets through programmatic offerings across FAST, AVOD, and Multicast networks. The unit’s initial clients include Sinclair Networks, Tubi, CJ ENM, and the National Wrestling Alliance.
Black Bear plans to release between 10 and 12 films annually, featuring a mix of filmmaker-driven cinema and commercial genre titles. Upcoming projects include ‘Wicker’, ‘Wife & Dog’, ‘Jason Statham Stole My Bike’, ‘A Woman in the Sun’, ‘Jonah’, and ‘Atmosphere’.
