Black bear breaks into California library to eat snacks

A black bear entered a library in Mammoth Lakes, California, early in the morning before the facility opened. Security cameras captured the animal wandering through the building and accessing staff supplies.

The bear consumed various food items, including peanut butter, canned peaches, cookies, and a jar of honey. Despite the intrusion, library staff reported no damage to the books or shelving.

Notably, the incident occurred on October 14, which marks the 100th anniversary of the first publication of Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne. Library director Josef Bopp noted the event was amusing, though he clarified that snacks are not available for checkout.
