Black bear incidents reported in Washington and North Carolina

A woman in Snohomish County, Washington, was attacked by a black bear while taking out her trash. The animal reportedly bit and scratched her from behind before she could escape into her home. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife used hounds to attempt to locate the bear following the encounter. Local reports suggest that improper food and trash disposal, combined with seasonal shifts as animals prepare for winter, may contribute to such human-wildlife encounters.

In a separate event in Asheville, North Carolina, a homeowner captured video of a mother black bear and her cub using a back porch. The footage shows the mother bear sitting in a patio chair while nursing her cub. The video has since gained significant attention on social media.
