Black bear sightings reported at Mohican State Park

Wildlife officials in Ohio are tracking a young black bear that has been sighted multiple times at Mohican State Park. The bear, identified by a distinctive white blaze on its chest, was reportedly seen on three separate occasions within a single week in late June and early July.

According to Katie Dennison, a biologist with the Ohio Division of Wildlife, the animal appears to be a transient bear traveling through several counties in east-central Ohio rather than an animal establishing a permanent home range. While sightings are increasing in eastern Ohio, officials believe this specific bear is likely just passing through the region.
